Is the painful lump in armpit most likely to be cancer?

Not necessarily. While cancer is one possibility there are several other options. It could be a benign (non-cancerous) tumor that simply needs to be removed, never to return. It could be a problem with your lymph nodes which may mean anything from taking antibiotics for an infection to having some of them removed. It’s possible that the lump is actually a cyst that has finally ruptured. And again, it could also turn out to be cancer. Your odds of cancer are probably higher than most given your medical history, so the sooner you talk to your doctor the better.
