Is the overall scheme still feasible in the current economic downturn?
Yes. It is important that regeneration schemes like this still go ahead as they will act as economic catalysts to bring both short term benefits and longer term economic growth to the regions. The overall aim of the combined scheme is to create a sustainable community and a development which makes a significant contribution to meeting Gedling Borough Council’s housing and employment land requirements, reclaims and reuses derelict land, and provides high standards of construction and design. The GAR is intended to help relieve long standing problems of congestion and the adverse environmental effects of traffic on the existing A612 through Gedling, as well as providing greater road safety.
