Is the NPA connected to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child?

0

• Canada is a signatory to and has ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which contains a comprehensive set of international legal standards for the protection and well-being of children. While A World Fit for Children is not a legal document, it is supported by the CRC and intrinsically tied to it. The principles of the NPA are the same as the CRC and both are essential texts for those working to improve the lives of children. Importantly, one of the goals of the NPA consultative activities is to widely promote the CRC in Canada. • The UN General Assembly has encouraged States parties who have ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child to consider including in their reports to the Committee on the Rights of the Child, information on measures taken and results achieved in the implementation of the present Plan of Action.
