It is common for greenhouses with thicker pipes to use bow spacing of 2, 3 or even 4 meters wide. In such cases, rust-prone wires are used to horizontally hold in the plastic coverings using only few purlins. BK advises against larger spacing because of the soft nature of plastic PE. Without adequate grip, wind can cause PE to flap and tear out of edges. BK’s solution is to use larger quantities of bows and purlins all the way down to the ground with 1 meter spacing. This minimizes flapping and increases the longevity of coverings.
