Is the Night Vision Pen truly compatible with modern night vision devices?

Yes, it is. Gen 3 night vision devices, such as the AN/AVS-9, are designed specifically to enhance light in the near-infrared (near-IR) spectrum. It does this by focusing incoming light on an intensifier. The intensifier is a photocathode that absorbs near-IR light and converts it to electrons. The electrons are then multiplied and the signal and is drawn towards a phosphor screen. When the electrons strike the phosphor screen, it emits a light in the visual spectrum that is in the exact same pattern as the near-IR light that entered the lens. The near-IR spectrum is from 780 nanometers (nm) to 2500 nm and the light emitted from our LEDs is 568 nm, outside the near-IR spectrum. Operational testing has also been conducted with the AN/AVS-9 which is the standard night vision device for all branches of the military.
