Is the Nexus (with Biotrace) a good system for low-frequency neurofeedback?
[ Top ] A: The Nexus is possibly the only alternative to the Othmers’ system at this time. Both are DC amplifiers which means they don’t block the DC and only pass alternating current the way older systems do. The Othmers’s system has been designed ground-up to do this sort of work, and is very affordable. As far as I know, the ability to write your own protocols or incorporate peripheral measures is limited on their system. Still, if you need a second system and want to work with the most experienced group in low frequency protocols, their system is a good choice. If, however, you want to do other types of neurofeedback (and there are many) or biofeedback and heart rate variability, or if you just want to observe physiologic stress indicators during your low frequency work, then you have no other choice but the Nexus. It’s software is fully programmable, it includes bio- and neurofeedback capability, is completely isolated from the computer by Bluetooth (for client safety), and has a
