While the Mint did strike a handful of gold dollars, the circulating coins scheduled to be released in early 2000 will be constructed of the same clad metal as the earlier SBA, except the coin will be gold-toned. The coin will also feature a distinctive edge to allow the visually impaired to easily discern the dollar coin from other denominations.
