Is the new international version of the Bible canonized under Catholic law?
No, it would not be since it does not have the full number of books. The NIV is not a bad translation but it is biased because (1) It does not include the 7 Deuterocanonical books in the OT, and (2) Certain scripture passages are biased towards certain interpretations of the text. For example in the NIV whenever the Greek word for tradition is used in the original the English word tradition is used only if the context it is used in is denoting it as something bad. But when the Greek word for tradition is used denoting something good they substitute the word teaching instead. This can give a negative bias to the word tradition. Examples of the NIV using teaching instead of tradition include: 2 Th 2:15 – http://bible.cc/2_thessalonians/2-15.htm and 2 Th 3:6 – http://bible.cc/2_thessalonians/3-6.htm 1 Cor 11:2 –
