Is the new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi replacing Paula Abdul?”
Good news, they’re reportedly bringing in some new blood to help judge on “American Idol” this season. Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi is coming on board when the show returns for its 8th season in January. The bad news is that she’s not replacing anyone, instead she will join Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as a permanent judge. Executive producer Simon Fuller said they originally wanted four judges when “American Idol” started and it’s the model they use for the international series. Simon went on to say, “We are turning the heat up on ‘Idol’ this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges’ table. She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America’s most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show.” Kara’s songs have been recorded by Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood and Pink, among others.
