He is reliable because we believe that what he is telling us is what happened. Of course he is crazy in several levels but we never get the idea that he is trying to deceive us or put an interpretation on the events to make us believe otherwise. In other-words his delusions are so transparent that we have no difficulty in seeing them for what they are.
