Is the name Greysen popular and what is a good middle name?
All of the Gray- and Grey- names have been building in popularity over the past decade. Greyer was the name of the child in the book/film “The Nanny Diaries.” The authors used the kinds of names that were heard in elite Manhattan nursery schools in the early 90s – always a good predictor of what will be heard on playgrounds everywhere else in a decade or so. Grayson has been the most popular of the category – it’s at #211 as of 2007. Greyson is #418. Neither Gray nor Grey chart, but I’ve heard both. So yes, it’s the kind of name that you’ll hear more of in coming years. Color names – think Violet and Scarlet for girls – are hot, so Gray seems like a masculine option. And the two-syllable, ends-in-n choices for boys have been all the rage for a while. Still, odds are that your child won’t share his name with dozens of other little boys his age, so I wouldn’t sweat it too much. It’s not Aiden. Or Braydon, Jayden, Caidhen, Haydin or Zaidyn.
