Is the music essentials kit from verizon wireless required to put music on your phone?

The kit is NOT required. All you need to do is make sure your phone is recognized by your computer when you plug it in via USB, and if you already have a USB cable then it will probably work for your phone (the USB for my digital camera fits my phone also). Also if you have Windows Media Player, once your phone is plugged in and you have it on the “SYNC mode” than you can use the Sync mode in Media player to transfer songs. But make sure your phone is OFF when you plug it in so the computer can recognize it (it should say “charging” and then turn it on. to do the sync. Also if you get a micro SD card (does your phone have a card slot) you don’t even need a cable. Just format the card THROUGH the PHONE then pop it out, put it in you computer, add songs, and pop it back in…
