Is the MTX X Thunder 1000x a good amp for the MTX T8510-44 10″ sub?

Best to my knowledge: MTX T8500 10″ Sub – RMS: 500W PEAK: 1000W Impedance: Dual 4 Ohm MTX X Thunder 1000XD Monoblock Amp – RMS: 1000W at 2 Ohms/500W at 4 Ohms Max Power: 2000W I’m trying to set up the perfect sub/amp combo in my 02 mustang GT and am trying to get the best from my sub that I can without over/underpowering either one. I already have one blown MTX and I don’t want to do another. So do you think this would be a good setup? If you set the gain correctly, It will work. However, if you set the amp to 1000 watts, the sub is gonna be screwed.
