Is the minor only available to engineering undergraduates?
A Minor in Biomedical Engineering is available to everyone. You must take Introduction to Biomedical Engineering, Modern Biology, Physiology, plus 2 courses from the Domain and Elective list. The non-engineering major can earn a Minor in Biomedical Engineering by taking 2 Introductions to Engineering, one being the Intro to Biomedical Engineering, Physiology, plus 2 Domain or Elective courses. One course must be a CIT course. When does a student declare the Biomedical Engineering additional major? Students declare their majors during the spring semester of their Freshmen year. At that time engineering students will be able to choose their traditional engineering major and choose a Biomedical Engineering track to pursue the double major. BME emphasizes the study of biological organisms as engineering systems.
