Is the MIDAS system the only way to send data to the MID?

Unfortunately, it isnt! Each Insurance company (and there are over 50 in the UK) has the option to create its own website or data collection mechanism to meet the requirements of the 4th directive. Some Insurance companies have agreed amongst themselves that they will share a common mechanism (e.g. MIDAS), and some plan to create their own web sites. At present, over 96% of all Fleet Motor Insurance policyholders will be expected to send their data to their own Insurer or via the MIDAS web site (some 27 Insurers) and about 2% via the MIIC web site (there are about 2% of Insurers who have yet to state their preference). The law allows you to choose how you send this information if you would like to continue using MIDAS rather than change your system every time you change your Insurer, then please let us know and we will ask your Insurer to receive your data from this web site.
