Is the micro-insert procedure reversible?
Dr. Rudo: Only women who do not desire to have children should consider any sterilization procedure. The micro-inserts should be considered irreversible, and there are no data on the safety or effectiveness of surgery to reverse their placement. An attempt at reversal would require major surgery with an abdominal incision under general anesthesia. The operation most likely would have a poor chance of successful reversal. There are also no data on the safety or effectiveness of in vitro fertilization (IVF) after a woman has had micro-inserts placed.
