Is the MHC DL Travel Counsellor Certificate recognized everywhere?
Attending a Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC) Endorsed Travel Program is your first step to becoming a professional travel counsellor. CITC works very closely with Human Resources Development Canada and the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Counsel to set and maintain the occupational standards for travel counselling. These two organizations also set standards for over 40 occupations in tourism. The occupational standards represent the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to be considered competent in travel counselling. They are developed for the industry, by travel industry professionals who work in this occupation across Canada. The standards form the basis for CITC’s recommended core curriculum that is taught at endorsed travel programs across Canada. Most employers in Canada would be familiar with the CITC organization and recognize that any training recommended by CITC is meeting the travel industry requirements for students entering the workforce.
