Is the mesenchymal stem cell in the bone marrow?
Dr. Hare: It’s a specialized cell. We know that it’s a stem cell. Mesenchymal stem cells are really neat cells and in the last couple of years, we’ve learned that they are not only in the bone marrow, but they are also in fat as well as umbilical cord blood, so they are distributed throughout our body. The mesenchymal stem cell that we know most about is the mesenchymal stem cell that it’s the bone marrow. When you’re delivering mesenchymal stem cells to a patient A and in patient B, you’re delivering bone marrow stem cells, is patient B getting more because when you pull out these cells are there fewer mesenchymal cells or do they get basically the same amount? Dr. Hare: We designed the trial to match the number of cells, to take that out of the equation. The randomization process takes care of matching. We want to make sure that we’re treating the same types of patients with the same number of cells. By randomizing it, by flipping the coin to assign the patient to each group, we end
