Is the Meningococcal (Meningitis) vaccine required?

0

The Meningococcal vaccine is required for all first year students living in university sponsored housing. If you do not wish to be vaccinated against meningitis you must sign a waiver stating that you are aware of the risks of meningitis.

The vaccine is not mandatory, but is recommended. If you choose to be immunized you can do so at any time. New York State Public Health Law 2167 does require that the Meningococcal Vaccine Waiver on page 3 of the Student Health History form be completed, either with date of vaccine, or your signature and date if you decline.
