My girlfriend claims the Mazda 3 engine and the BMW 3 engine are the same, I don’t believe her, as I know Mazda is owned (partially owned?) by Ford, and to my knowledge, neither has anything to do with BMW, but she is absolutely adamant that the Mazda 3 engine is made by BMW A: They are nothing alike. The Mazda 3 engine is developed by ford it comes in several version starting from a 1.3 liters to a 2.3. I have a 2007 BMW 3 series and it comes standard with a 3.0 (In Europe it comes with a 2.0 but not in the US) liters engine, something that Mazda 3 does not even offer.
