Is the Mayan calendar accurate to foretell the end of the world in 2012?
Interesting… I am reading a book right now called the Mayan Factor, it is hard to separate fact from fiction when people talk about the 2012 subject, I think it’s much more interesting to study the facts. The mayans were a people who were great astronomers, they understood that the universe worked in cycles, the mayan calander is just a very acurate astronomical calander that details different cycles, it shows the major cycles and the smaller cycles that occur within, 2012 is just the end of one of the major cycles, we have been heading there for about 5000 years this is a very gradual transition, nothing will suddenly happen, we will simply begin a new cycle. If you want to get more into it there are many people have extrapolated this to mean all sorts of things, one thing is for certain the universe is cyclical, the big question is does the human race react to the cycles of the cosmos, if so then we will be entering into a time very similar astronomically as when the mayans first m
