Is the main character STATIC or DYNAMIC?
If STATIC, the main character remains steady and constant throughout the story. Most good detective stories have STATIC detectives who solve the mystery with a steadiness and constancy that the DYNAMIC murderer can’t escape from. Yet, a STATIC character is static because they’re waiting for something to either START or STOP. “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is STATIC in waiting for Luke to START learning about “The Force”. “Batman” is STATIC in fighting crime while waiting for his parent’s death to STOP hurting. If DYNAMIC, the character changes from beginning to end. “Luke Skywalker” is on the quintessential “Hero Quest” as he changes from child to man. Not every DYNAMIC character is the same. Some characters need to START doing something while others need to STOP doing something. “Han Solo” needs to START helping other people while “Princess Leia” needs to STOP being hard-hearted.
