Is the LGBT “Berlin Wall” falling?
As a recently repatriated Iowan, I’ve been all but walking on air since our State’s Supreme Court made its fantastic ruling. It filled me with hope that the Court’s sound and unambiguous decision would influence California’s Supreme Court to show some integrity in their forthcoming decision. Then, it seems like only hours later, Vermont did Iowa one better and broke a barrier that seemed to be the last, best argument remaining for marriage bigots by legalizing same sex marriage thru the legislative process, and overriding a veto by a governor. NH Governor John Lynch has promised his “best decision” after he talks to his legislators and the People of New Hampshire. There’s at least one citizen of Utah he should talk to, now, also. After shedding 45 pounds of public misperception of bigotry, Marie Osmond has expressed her support of Gay Couples complete rights, even if falling just short of saying the word “marriage.
