Is the law meant for only commercial motorcyclists?
No! All motorcyclists both private and commercial and whoever they are carrying must put on the helmet. Section 10, subsection 4 (ii) of the FRSC Establishment Act of 2007 and section 41 subsection E of the National Road Traffic Regulations of 2004 made it mandatory for all riders and passengers of motorcycles in Nigeria to use helmets. National Road traffic Regulations 2004 harmonises all the traffic laws in Nigeria. So, you don’t need to start thinking what would be the law while travelling to Zamfara, what is the rule in Niger, but you now have a national framework as far as road traffic regulations are concerned. Can you enlighten Nigerians on the essence of enforcing the use of crash helmets?
