Is the lack of physical punishment the cause social breakdown in kids?

I don’t think it’s the lack of physical punishment, but rather the overall lack of discipline. It seems like parents these days are afraid to say no to anything, and the kids don’t get any discipline in school either because they’re too afraid of lawsuits.

Not the lack of physical punishment, but lack of punishment in general. There are many effective ways of punishing children when they do something wrong, like naughty corner and taking away their favourite toy etc, but people dont seem to apply these methods, they either smack or let them run wild. I was never smacked or threatened to be and i was never a naughty kid, because the few times that i was my dad used to sit me down and sternly tell me why its wrong and that he was disappointed in me, that was always enough to make me feel bad about what i’d done As for school, its the parents not the teachers that are supposed to teach children good manners and punish them, they are teachers after all not substitute parents.
