Is The Kalashnikov AK-47 A Good Rifle?
Over a 100 million users can’t be wrong, this is the best estimate of the number of Kalashnikov AK-47s that have been produced. However, this figure is likely to be a conservative figure as there are thought to be many millions of AK-47s produced without a manufacturing licence. The question of whether it is a good rifle is something of a moot point. Perhaps functional and cheap to produce might be a better description. What is not at issue is that the AK-47 is a massively successful assault rifle that has proven its worth in countless battles since 1947. In every conflict the simplicity and reliability of the rifle has shone through. Indeed, it is said that the fundamental genius of the Kalashnikov is in its simplicity of design, a major factor in its ability to be mass produced cheaply. Sure, you can get better rifles than a AK-47, but the appeal of the Russian invented rifle is its sheer capacity for being brilliant at what it does.
