Is the iPad a good candidate for the first Apple product someone ever owns?

Absolutely not. At $500 for the entry level product, it’s way too expensive for someone to purchase as their first Apple product. Not only that, but also Apple is trying to create a new market with these so called tablet computers. Someone would be more likely to purchase a netbook for the purposes that the iPad serves. A netbook doesn’t do quite as many things, but most people own other devices that fulfill the other needs iPad is trying to fill. Most people get an iPod as their first Apple product, not because it’s creating a new market (indeed, “mp3 players,” as they were called, have been around since before iPods) but because it has been reported to do the best job at that market. People who are die hard Apple fans are most likely to get this product. Even if the reviews are great, I still doubt people will get the iPad as there first Apple product. The need for ANY Tablet computer has to be accepted–THEN, people may buy an iPad, but probably only after they enjoyed an iPod shuff
