Jewish thought about Sheol often resembles Catholic purgatory, but I never actually fully grokked the theological explanation behind any of those things. Mortal and venial sins are a distinction made by the Catholic Church, but I don’t see why other churches would necessarily object to the distinction.

Everything expoused by the catholic church is an invention. Purgatory, venial and mortal sins are man-made and fallible. It is a disgusting religion that allowed child abuse, condoned child abuse and hid child abuse. Why any rational, intelligent person would buy this is beyond my comprehnsion.
