Answer I have never seen Protopic create hyperpigmentation. Protopic is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory compound, thus it reduces inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Vaccination for shingles does help. 51% of the people who get the vaccine never have shingles. But of the 49% that got the vaccine and also got shingles, the shingles was not as severe in the group that got the vaccine. Shingles is not a side effect of Protopic.
