Is the HPCL brand Power similar to Speed and XTRA Premium petrol?
Bhushan Khare The so-called branded petrol that is currently available from the three big oil marketing companies in the country are all regular unleaded petrol or 91 octane petrol which is pre-mixed with chemical additives that reduce knocking, prevent build of deposits in the engine, clean the injectors and nozzles and reduce emissions even as the fuel passes through the engine chamber during the cycle of combustion. All the three premium petrol brands Power, Speed and Xtra Premium are pretty similar in properties, performance and pricing. Only, each of the oil marketing companies that vend these brands of petrol has a different overseas partner from whom they shop for the additive. Branded petrol will be a better choice than regular unleaded petrol for any vehicle type and class, whether it is a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler. While it would be advisable to stay with petrol treated with additives right from the start, it may also be never too late to switch from regular unleaded fuel
