Is The Home Run Hitting Contest Getting Like The Slam Dunk Contest In Basketball?

The one thing I have always liked about the Baseball All-Star game was the top players would show up to take part in the Home Run hitting contest. It seems though many of the top stars are sitting it out instead of delighting the fans. This is starting to remind me of the NBA Slam-Dunk contest. There was a time the best players in the NBA entered it, but not anymore. I hope baseball is not going this route, but it seems so. Baseball had the last All-Star game that had something for the fans to enjoy, but it seems the high dollar baseball players feel they do not have to give back to the fans. The fans pay the high ticket prices and these players could give something back to them for it. The players who are competing in the Home Run Derby should be applauded for at least stepping to the plate. The superstars of baseball who have decided to not join in should be ashamed. This is for the fans and you owe them that at least.
