Is The Hoary Rock-Rose Actually From The Rose Family?
The rose genus Rosa L comes from the family of Rosaceae, sub-family of Rosideae under the order of Rosales in the division and class of Magnoliophyta and Magnoliopsida in the kingdom of Plantae. However, the Hoary Rock Rose or Helianthemum Canum differs in its order, family and genus being Malvales, Cisdtaceae and Helianthemum respectively. They are not of the same family. Hoary Rock Roses grow close to the sea and are low growing plants. They are multi branched, evergreen shrubs found commonly in Spain, France and Germany in Western Europe, in Malta and several Eastern Mediterranean countries, North Africa and Ireland. In England it is very rare and local.
