Is the high school expansion an urgent priority?
No. Most agree that the time has come for modest expansion and renovation, but there is no crisis. The average UHS class size today is only 17 and high school enrollment is projected to remain flat or decrease over the foreseeable future. With the economy in a severe recession the board should seriously weigh the benefits of postponing any building project, large or small, until a recovery is in sight.
