Is the Hauppauge hd pvr a good gameplay recorder?

As far as I know, the HD PVR is the only way to capture HD video from your game console onto your computer, so the answer would be yes since there isn’t a lot of choice. There are plenty of standard definition capture devices, but the Hauppauge HD PVR is the only one I know that can do High Definition. Even so, it only accepts component video inputs and the HD content is limited to 720p or 1080i depending on what console / video source you use. Note: In order to set the capture up, you’ll likely have to buy a component splitter because most capture cards have delays so they’re not good for gaming directly on the computer, and most TVs don’t have a component out, so you won’t be able to record the HD signal. So what you need is a splitter to connect the component from your game console to the computer and TV simultaneously.
