Is the Guide appropriate for older adults?
A9. Canada’s Physical Activity Guide to Healthy Active Living is applicable to all Canadians. However, plans are underway to develop a Guide Supplement for Older Adults. Regular physical activity is a critical factor in helping older adults enjoy a better quality of life by remaining healthy and independent in their later years. This is particularly timely now in light of the rapid growth of this segment of the Canadian population. The Supplement for Older Adults would feature recommendations that are more targeted, use more examples with older adults in them, and suggest activities that seniors typically like to do.
