Is the Green Economy possible for Malaysia?
Lee Chor Wah: Yes, it is possible. We just had the Green Economy plan launched last month and the Malaysian Green Building Index was launched in May. Also it is important to note that architecturally, we have always done things to make homes less energy intensive but the Green Building Index now allows us to measure this, and that is a good thing. In terms of adoption, we are encouraged that developers and even consumers are asking for green buildings. We already have more than 40 pilot sites for the Green Building Index and even suppliers are now going for material and technology to support this green wave. But personally, I think there is more we can do if we are really serious about this. We need to look at the small things we can do in our lives and not just focus on big things and to rely on the government.
