Is the Grand Strand Humane Society a “no-kill” shelter?

No, at this time, we are an open admission shelter. This means we accept all owner turn-in or stray animals that are located within the city limits of Myrtle Beach regardless of their health, physical condition or temperament. We attempt to put all animals up for adoption, however because of safety reasons, animals that are deemed dangerous, ill, contagious or suffering are considered for euthanasia. The GSHS does not make it a practice to euthanize for capacity or length of time an animal is here and we use euthanasia as an absolute last resort.
