Is the Giant Drop at Six Flags Great America now open?

Yes, some of the Giant Drop Towers are back open at “select Six Flags Parks”, but the one in Atlanta that the 13 year old girl lost her feet on will remain closed indefinitely (it is going to be reviewed by “an independent company” for safety sometime this year, mostly likely by Intamin, makers of the rides) So really it depends on when you catch it, and if Great America has had their tower sized-up yet and is considered safe to ride. Most likely, it’s been screened by the Agriculture people (they’re usually the ones in charge of looking after guests’ safety in most states oddly enough). In relation to the girl, someone at the park actually found one of her feet and doctors were able to sew it back on 4 days after it was found, bagged, and put on ice… The other foot+ankle were never found….
