No. The German POW, Steamboat Willie, did not kill Mellish. Mellish s killer was a member of the Waffen SS. Steamboat Willie was an ordinary German infantryman. When Mellish and the SS trooper fight, notice the SS collar insignia on the German and his SS camouflaged smock.
