Is the General Contractor considered the conveyance owner for new construction projects?

No. But since the general contractor (GC) is typically responsible for safety of the equipment until the building is issued a Certificate of Occupancy, it does not prohibit the GC or the conveyance installer from obtaining an inspection, however, they cannot hire for an acceptance inspection. The owner who hired the GC must contract with the conveyance inspector. To facilitate a timely inspection, the inspector should be retained by the owner in advance of the need.
