Is the GCSE French course difficult?
Hi, It depends on what you mean by “difficult”. Do you get good marks in your other subjects? Are you willing to study hard? It’s not “difficult” in that 25% is coursework (I think), so it can “cushion” you against a bad mark in the exam. The main areas are: Listening – you can’t really revise for this one. A tape is played and you have to answer questions that you’re given in English or French (it’ll tell you which one 🙂 !). Just learn the vocab and you’ll be fine. Reading – similar to your basic test. Answer the questions on a given passage in French of English. Writing – you have to prepare a piece of writing on a given topic before the exam, memorise it, and write down as much of it as you can in the exam. I’ve been told you get about an hour for it (I’m only in Year 10 going into Year 11, so this hasn’t been formally explained to us yet).
