Is the full moon party in Thailand as epic as people describe it?
YES, it really is incredible. The atmosphere is brilliant, you meet people from all over the world, etc. I would say that the best thing to do is stay somewhere on Chaweng beach on Koh Samui (as that is the heart of all the nightlife in KS – make sure to check out Green Mango, and then Solo Bar or Sound after it closes!) and get a ferry over to Koh Phangan, which can be easily organised with your hotel. Make sure you don’t miss your ferry back though! It might be a while until the next one. I didn’t find it as unsafe as some people made it out to be, I’m fairly young, and went with a big group of friends and didn’t have any trouble. But of course you do need to be safe, and just be aware, especially for pickpockets – my friend’s bag was slashed and the guy just ran away with it. So bring as little as possible… basically just money for all the buckets 😉 And a camera if you want, although unless you are really careful there is a high chance you’ll lose it.
