Is the final exam schedule problem caused by the new class meeting time matrix?
No, this problem has been developing over time. In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to schedule final exams without creating time conflicts for students or faculty. As enrollments have grown, so has the number of course sections offered, yet the number of exam slots has remained unchanged. In scheduling final exams in the past, the Office of the Registrar has frequently had to build time conflicts into the schedule or omit many courses from the schedule. Those conflicts and omissions were always addressed later in the term, but the process was inefficient and arduous for students, faculty, and administrators.
