Is the film Inkheart good as the book?
Two points of view on this film, as an adult, it was an OK film. The eyes of a younger viewer, it’s a darn good film. The young viewer first. The fantasy is wonderful; reading a book out loud by a ‘Silvertongue’ can bring characters to life. That’s an amazing thing, it says so much about the written word and how imagination can work so strongly with books. The special effects are pretty well done. The story moves along reasonably well. There are some very scary moments. But then there is a wonderful resolution, and a child has a very strong influence in the end. As a young viewer, I would buy this story lock stock and barrel (my 13 year old son agrees, he liked this movie a lot). The older viewer. There are a number of holes in the story. The rules by which the silvertongue works or doesn’t work aren’t very clear. How a character leaves the book into the real world, and why a person ends up in the book, isn’t clear at all. Why some characters have words on their face and others don’t,
