Yes. The King County Sheriff’s Department gets funding from two main sources: from the King County budget and from contracts for police services to a number of small cities in King County. Over the last two years, funding for the Sheriff’s Department has been cut by the King County Council, due to continued budget shortfalls. More cuts are expected in the future. However, funding through contract cities has been more predictable and stable. The City of Fairwood is the last potential new contract customer for the King County Sheriff’s Department.
