Is the facebook post that rock and roll laureate thax douglas is dead true?”
Chicago poet Thax Douglas III is dead, according to a post on Thax Douglas’ Facebook page, reportedly posted by his father. The problem is, Douglas’ father has no knowledge of this. (Update: Neither does the coroner’s office, according to WBEZ.) Thax Douglas Jr. told Decider that “Thax has had his problems, but I just talked to him yesterday. He certainly didn’t sound like he was dying.” The Facebook post pegs Douglas III’s death at 10 a.m., but the latest poem posted to his MySpace page went live at 12:29 p.m. A call to Douglas III was not returned.
Reports now indicate that Chicago’s thatched-bearded, rock and roll “laureate,” Thax Douglas, is alive, despite a post on his Facebook page allegedly made by his father that said he had died. According to the post on Facebook, Douglas died around 10 a.m. this morning. But Decider Chicago reported that Douglas’ father had no knowledge of his son’s passing. Furthermore, a new poem was posted on Douglas’ Myspace page around 12:30 p.m. today, which created a flood of rumors suggesting the post about the 52-year old Woodridge native is a hoax. Douglas has not responded to Decider’s attempts to reach him so far.
