Is the F-35 Lightning II the best fighter jet in the world currently?
No such thing as a best fighter jet in the world. Never has been, never will be. If for example you are only concerned about air superiority and airspace denial, the F-35 is not your first, second or possibly even third choice. If you need a tactical aircraft that can accurately deliver a wide variety of ordnance against ground targets while engaging any air opposition that might appear along the way then the F-35 is going to be at the top of your list. Requirements – the things a user needs in a combat aircraft – differ from one user to another. One air force might find the F-35 is exactly what they need, another may find it quite useless to them. That is why there is no best.
