There are two kinds of respiration, so there are two different equations. 1) Aerobic respiration is respiration which uses oxygen: glucose + oxygen = water + carbon dioxide + ENERGY C6H12O6 + 6O2 = 6H2O + 6CO2 + ENERGY Aerobic respiration is the same in animals and plants. 2) Anaerobic respiration is respiration without using oxygen. This is different in plants and animals.
