In cars there are always 2 places that can take water and both could be called tanks. You have already found one that is for the water/coolant mix for the engine cooling.Yes it is a tank and contains water. The other is for the windsceeen washers and that should have a cap on it with a small pic of a wiper wiping a small bit of screen like the one on your wiper stalk on the steering column. There is a washer bottle and a coolant expansion tank – there is nothing just called a water tank. The washer bottle should be topped up with a mix of washer fluid and clean water – see the side of the bottle to find out how much per litre to add to stop it all freezing up. The coolant expansion tank will have max and min marks on it. Check when the engine is cold and if it is above the minimum mark do nothing. If it is below the minimum top up with a 50% water 50% antifreeze mix. The antifreeze mix must be the correct type for your car. Not all of them mix with one another so ask where you buy the

There is NO water tank in ANY car. Coolant/antifreeze is what is used to cool the engine. What you are CALLING the water tank is the coolant reservoir and/or the radiator.
