Is the Driving Test Fair?
In my experience, I have seen pupils who have committed faults, which have been more on the side of ‘questionable’ or ‘minor’ faults, which have been classed as ‘serious’ by the test examiner – which have therefore resulted in the candidate failing the driving test. On the other hand, I have witnessed pupils make more ‘serious’ faults, which have been almost completely overlooked! On top of that, I would reasonably often see pupils who have been performing very well during their driving lessons, but when it comes to the test – the learner would make a ‘silly mistake’. This can be frustrating for me (frustrated at the ‘system’), as their instructor, because I know how well they can generally drive well, and that the error in question has, more than likely, occurred due to an ‘overly self conscious’ and very nervous pupil.
